We Could Get A Han Solo Spin-off Movie! With Who?

MAIN-Aaron-Paul-and-Han-Solo

The Independent Reports:

A new Star Wars spin-off film about Han Solo and starring Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul is rumored to be in the works.

The new film is believed to be in production under the code name “Luminac Industrial Goods”, according to a post on the Stars Wars fan site Making Star Wars.

Editor-in-Chief of Making Star Wars Paul Ward said, “I generally shy away from reporting too much on the specifics of the stand-alone spin-off Star Wars films because we hear so much stuff it can be difficult to know what to take seriously.”

“For this reason, we’re having to rely pretty much entirely on the sources that have panned out for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“So today’s information comes from a friend that did give us legit Star Wars: The Force Awakens set photos and more.”

Andy Serkis Gives New Clues About Who He Will Play In Episode VII

You never know who – or what – he will play when you see that Andy Serkis is cast in a movie…  Star Wars fans everywhere have speculated that he may play multiple characters for the new Episode VII movie.  Some answers have been given by the man himself:

‘I can say I only play one character,’ Andy told Entertainment Weekly in a new question and answer session,’ dismissing speculation he had been cast in a multitude of roles. ‘That’s not true at all,’ he said.

And as for that gravelly statuesque voice, it was digitally unaltered, according to Serkis: ‘That is the character,’ he said. ‘There’s no digital manipulation. That’s just me.’

‘I can’t say a single thing about that. I’m sorry!’ he laughed. ‘These things will all come out in the fullness of time, I promise.’

Then there’s the character himself. Judging from the voice, he sounds weary and wise. Has Andy’s alter ego been involved in some harsh action in the galaxy over the years?

‘I have to be very careful about how I answer these questions,’ he said cagily. ‘The character… he’s been through some stuff.’

Aside from the background noise of droids and the iconic Star Wars score, Serkis’s voice is the only one featured on the trailer.

Those are all things that we learned from the Entertainment Weekly interview.

Stop by and sound off on our group about who you think Serkis will play.  A new Sith?  A Jedi who has been turned?  Something else entirely?  You make the call!

According to Comicbook.com,

Star Wars #1 will sell over a million copies, becoming the top-selling single-issue comic book of the last twenty years.

Star Wars, will also become the first-ever million-selling periodical comic book sold exclusively through direct market channels without the aid of newsstands.

Marvel Comics began a move out of the newsstand market in 2012 and finished it near the end of 2013, according to SVP of Sales David Gabriel, who was quizzed on the issue last year after Barnes and Noble employees in Manhattan revealed that they were removing Marvel from their periodical displays.

How ‘Star Wars’ Saved Marvel Comics

star_wars_cover

A new article out by the NY Times today details how Star Wars kept the fledgling Marvel Comics afloat in the late 70s.

Few things jump out at you like; Did you know? Marvel paid exactly ZERO for the licensing fees for Star Wars.  Lucas wanted the comic out before the movie hit to create buzz and was willing to do it as kind of a publicity stunt.

The British Film Institute has an amazing new exhibit called ‘On-Set – Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope’.

Taken from script supervisor Ann Skinner’s personal collection – which has never before been made public – the superb stash includes Skinner’s own notated script pages, details of a deleted scene alongside photos of characters that failed to make it into the finished film, and pictures of stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing relaxing between takes.

Who Could Matthew McConaughey Play In Star Wars?

interstellar_110714_1280-720x405

At the recent Interstellar press conference in London, the film’s director and cast discussed their favorite sci-fi characters, McConaughey picked Chewie.  Christopher Nolan picked Darth Vader, and Jessica Chastain chose Princess Leia.  Seems like they are REALLY pulling for the Star Wars audience to turn out for their movie…

This leads me to ask, Who Would He Play?

IGN pressed him about playing a Star Wars character in the interview:

“I want to do something… find in a character where I can get to a point where I feel like nobody could be doing this but me,” McConaughey further explained. “I’m going to have an original experience…an original take. That takes work to get to that point, but whatever the genre I’m wide open.”

“Sure – there’s not anything that I’m not open to embracing” he replied. “I want it to be a quality script, I want a quality character. I want to be a little scared of it. I want to have new challenges. I want to do something… find in a character where I can get to a point where I feel like nobody could be doing this but me. I’m going to have an original experience… an original take. That takes work to get to that point, but whatever the genre I’m wide open.”

Well said…
